Amsterdam: another view

The Museum of the Canals, Museum Het Grachtenhuis, will be opening the exhibition ‘Amsterdam: a different perspective’, in which the acclaimed French architect Marcel Bajard will lead the public around the city through his drawings, prints and maps. He will be showing the museum’s visitors how the uniqueness and beauty of Amsterdam are not the product of happy coincidence, but of developments and artistic movements that have given shape to the canals, streets and public spaces of this city over the years. The exhibition is open until the 2nd of September.

Isaac Israëls comes to stay in the Museum of the Canals

Welcome at the unique sales exhibition ‘Isaac Israels comes to stay in the Museum of the Canals’. Many of the pieces on exhibition are from private estates and have never before been exhibited in a museum. This temporary exhibition is the first in a series of Post Impressionists, inspired by city life in Amsterdam. The second exhibition in September will feature Jan Sluijters, the third exhibition will be in November featuring George Hendrik Breitner.


Permanent Expo

The permanent exhibition of the Museum of the Canals is open the entire year round on the first floor of the museum. In five interactive rooms, you can witness the history of Amsterdam and its canals, where clever use of multimedia brings the story of the canals to life. After a visit to this exhibition, you’ll have a whole new way of looking at the Amsterdam canals.
